Job Title: Assistant Inventory Controller
Department: Finance & Inventory
Location: Maldives
Reports To: Inventory Controller / Finance Manager
Position Summary:
The Assistant Inventory Controller will support the daily operations of inventory management for the company’s FMCG business. The role involves assisting in maintaining accurate stock levels, verifying inventory transactions, coordinating with warehouse and procurement teams, and handling payment processes related to customs, suppliers, and other operational expenses. The ideal candidate should be detail-oriented, reliable, and possess strong analytical and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Inventory Management:
Assist in monitoring and maintaining accurate stock levels across all warehouses and retail outlets.
Support the reconciliation of physical inventory with system records on a regular basis.
Assist in tracking incoming and outgoing goods, ensuring proper documentation and recording.
Verify goods received against purchase orders and supplier invoices.
Coordinate with warehouse and procurement teams to resolve discrepancies or damaged goods issues.
Update inventory reports and provide timely updates to management on stock movements and shortages.
Payments & Financial Coordination:
Handle payments to Customs, Ports Authority, and other regulatory bodies for import and clearance-related activities.
Prepare and process supplier payments related to inventory purchases and logistics.
Maintain proper documentation for all payments and ensure compliance with company financial procedures.
Liaise with finance and accounts departments to ensure accurate posting of inventory-related transactions.
Reporting & Documentation:
Assist in generating inventory and stock movement reports as required by management.
Support internal and external audits by providing necessary data and documentation.
Ensure all records are properly filed and accessible for review.
Operational Support:
Coordinate with logistics and procurement teams to ensure smooth inbound and outbound product flow.
Assist in periodic stock counts, spot checks, and inventory verifications.
Participate in continuous process improvements to enhance inventory accuracy and efficiency.
Qualifications & Experience:
Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Supply Chain, or a related field.
Minimum 2 years of experience in inventory control or accounting, preferably in an FMCG or trading environment.
Knowledge of inventory management systems (e.g., ERP or POS software).
Strong understanding of customs payment procedures and documentation in the Maldives.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
Excellent attention to detail, numerical accuracy, and organizational skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
