Job Overview:
- Society for Health Education (SHE) is looking for a Laboratory Technologist to support the diagnosis of Thalassemia and related haemoglobinopathies. The role involves carrying out routine analytical and administrative works of the laboratory.
- Work location is not stated. Openings: Not stated. Salary range: MRF 11,470.00 – 13,800.00 depending on qualification and experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out routine laboratory work for thalassemia screening including phlebotomy, complete haemogram, blood picture analysis and electrophoresis.
- Participate in field trips as required.
- Participate in awareness raising programs as required.
- Provide genetic counselling to identified carriers and couples at risk.
- Perform data entry for Thalassemia and update laboratory statistics.
- Ensure that all laboratory supplies and equipment, including emergency stock, are utilized and stored appropriately.
- Coordinate in-house training.
- Conduct routine maintenance of laboratory equipment and preparation of reagents in the lab.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or related field (including hematology).
- Phlebotomy Certificate.
- Experience in a relevant field will be considered.
- Registered at Maldives Allied Health Council and licensed to work as a Laboratory Technologist.
- Should be a Maldivian.
- Basic knowledge of MS Office.
- Strong time management skills.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Good eye-hand coordination.
- Attention to detail for obtaining accurate results on tests.
- Ability to work under pressure and enjoy a methodical approach to work.
- Able to work as part of a team and travel on occasions when required.
